Dr Peter Keay

BDSc MDSc

Dr. Keay received his Bachelor of Dental Science degree with Honours and his Masters of Dental Science from the University of Queensland in 1980.

Dr Keay then commenced work as Dentist-in-Charge at the Monto hospital west of Bundaberg and then advanced his career as a dentist to the Ipswich Oral Health Clinic. After specialising in Orthodontics in 1990, he then worked on the north side of Brisbane at the Children’s Oral Health Service and Royal Children’s Hospital. Dr Keay then began his specialist orthodontic career in a private practice at two locations, Sunnybank and Ferny Hills.

As a former President of the Australian Society of Orthodontics (Queensland branch), he maintains an active interest in the society and regularly attends state and national study meetings. He is a member of the Australian Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, and a Fellow of the World Federation of Orthodontists. Dr Keay has a son, two daughters and three grandchildren. Family life has always kept Dr Keay very busy with his wife. When Dr Keay is not involved with the practice, he enjoys going to theatre events, cooking up a storm and spending time with family.

Dr Annu Nangia

BSc BDSc MDSc

Dr Nangia received her Bachelor of Dental Science degree from the University of Melbourne and obtained her Masters of Dental Science in Orthodontics from the University of Sydney in 2001.

Dr Nangia also received a Bachelor of Science degree from Monash University in Melbourne. Dr Nangia began her career as a dentist with Queensland Health in 1996, working in Hervey Bay and Indooroopilly before commencing a specialist orthodontic practice in 2001 with Dr Peter Keay.

Dr Nangia is a member of the Australian Dental Association, past president of the Australian Society of Orthodontics (Queensland), and a Fellow of the World Federation of Orthodontists. Dr Nangia is currently president of Australian and New Zealand Forensic Science Society (Queensland). Dr Nangia has scope of practice in forensic dentistry.

When Dr Nangia is not involved with the practice, she enjoys spending time with her family and spontaneous adventures.

Dr Max Wei

BDSc (Hons) DClinDent (Ortho)

Dr Wei received his Bachelor of Dental Science degree with First Class Honours and a University Medal from the University of Queensland, and later obtained his Doctor of Clinical Dentistry from the same university.

Prior to joining KN Orthodontics, Dr Wei had worked in private practice in Sydney and at the Hervey Bay dental hospital where he was involved in the school dental services, and head and neck cancer treatment team. He later spent three years studying and working at the Herston Oral Health Centre as part of his Orthodontics specialty training. At the moment, he is also working at the public hospital as an Orthodontist.

He is an active member of the Australian Society of Orthodontics and enjoys attending national study meetings to update his knowledge. He has published in the Angle Orthodontist, an international journal. Dr Wei also speaks Mandarin. During his free time, he likes to spend time with his family, walk the family dog and try different ramen places. He also likes playing board games and drawing with his polychromos so he is not particularly worried when it rains!

Yi Shan

Oral Health Therapist (BOH)

Yi Shan first entered the world of dentistry working for Queensland Health back in 2012 at the Children’s Oral Health Service and Royal Children’s Hospital. She graduated with a Bachelor of Oral Health from the University of Queensland and has been working in both public and private practices ever since. Yi Shan is an active member of the Dental Hygienist’s Association of Australia (DHAA) and stays up to date with the latest evidence-based practice and research for optimal patient care.

Outside of dentistry, Yi Shan enjoys playing music as a member of the Queensland Medical Orchestra and volunteers in medical and dental aid programs to give back to the community. She also likes to spend quality time with her family, friends and pets.

Lindy

Clinic Co-Ordinator / Dental Assistant

Lindy began her dental career in 2015 as a student dental assistant at a dentist in Coorparoo who specialised in laser dentistry then advanced her career into orthodontics. Lindy has completed a Certificate III in Dental Assisting and a certificate in Orthodontic Assisting. Lindy started her role as clinic co-ordinator at KN Orthodontics in early 2019. Lindy also has a Certificate II in Animal Studies along with a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.

Lindy enjoys time with her family, friends and her German Shepherd Sultan. Lindy also enjoys going on car club adventures with her 1973 Volkswagen Beetle.

Jo

Administration

Jo is a very experienced and dedicated receptionist after spending 17 years in medical administration for a doctor’s surgery. Jo has since joined the team at KN Orthodontics in October 2019 as a receptionist and her bubbly personality is well received by our patients.

Jo enjoys gardening, spending time with her family and adoring her chocolate Labrador Winston. In the future, when the time is right, Jo would love another Burmese cat to join the family. Jo also enjoys a relaxing holiday to Noosa – for her love of the beach and a spot of shopping.  

Mel

Dental Assistant

Mel started her career in general dentistry with the biggest private practice in Victoria. She soon completed a National Certificate in Dental Nursing then pursued her State Certificate provided by the Victorian Dental Board.

Mel advanced her career from general to specialist orthodontics in Melbourne. Her husband’s career took a sea change and they relocated to Brisbane. Since moving to Brisbane, Mel worked for another private practice in Carindale as a clinic co-ordinator. Mel has been a part of the KN Orthodontic team since 2015 and enjoys working for a smaller private practice. Mel has previously worked as a barista and horse-riding instructor in her spare time when she lived in Melbourne. Mel is a huge Dr. Who fan and is waiting for her ride in the Tardis.

Florina

Dental Assistant

After Florina graduated high school she began working as a waitress and bar tender for the family business. Florina then began her dental assisting career in early 2020 and has since joined KN Orthodontics mid 2021. Florina is currently studying Exercise and Sport Science at ACU and aiming for her masters degree in Exercise Physiology to become a Cardiac Scientist.

Florina enjoys going to the gym, heading to the beach, spending time with friends and reading in her spare time.

Abbey

Dental Assistant

Abbey joined KN Orthodontics early in 2022 and has not looked back from her career change. Once Abbey completed year 12, she stared working as a barista and kitchen hand at a café while working a social media marketing job for another company. Abbey has enjoyed her new career so far in dental assisting and seeks to follow through with further study. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, playing video games, game board nights with family, exploring new places to try new foods and going on relaxing camping adventures. Abbey would love to have a pet at some point in the future, but for now being the ‘favourite’ aunty in her family is her main focus.

Farren

Dental Therapist

Farren began her dental career in 2005 studying her diploma in Dental Therapy at university. After her completion of her diploma, Farren began working with a paediatric dentist and for a school dental clinic. Farren then began her orthodontic journey joining the team at KN Orthodontics in 2015. In her spare time, Farren enjoys camping with her kids, husband and dog, going to the beach and sewing.

Julie-Ann

Clinic Co-Ordinator / Dental Assistant

Julie-Ann started her dental career in 2008 studying her Certificate III in Dental Assisting at the Australian Dental Association Queensland. Prior to completing her dental assisting certificate Julie-Ann also completed a Certificate III in Childcare. Julie-Ann joined the team at KN Orthodontics in 2012 as a dental assistant and has since been rewarded for her efforts taking the roll of clinic co-ordinator. Julie-Ann enjoys camping with her friends and family, swimming and spending time with her dog Molly.

Katey

Administration

Katey began her dental career in 1997 and worked for a general dentist until joining the team at KN Orthodontics in 2020. Katey has a Certificate III in Dental Nursing from TAFE Queensland. Katey has many years of experience in administration working for Commonwealth Bank and as a receptionist at her church. Katey enjoys bike riding and spending time with her four children and husband camping. Katey doesn’t have any pets at the moment but will be looking to adopt in the future.

Vicki

Dental Assistant

Vicki joined the team at KN Orthodontics in 2016 and has enjoyed being a dental assistant throughout the years. Vicki has experience in administration, personal assisting, writing books and as an antique shop owner. Vicki enjoys getting out into nature with a bush walk, reading and fiction writing, gardening and co-ordinating a writer’s group. In her spare time Vicki also enjoys catching up with her children who live interstate and overseas.

Hayley

Dental Assistant

Hayley began her dental assisting career in 2009 after completing her own braces treatment with Dr Annu Nangia.

Hayley has also worked in aged care but felt her passion lies in the dental world. Hayley achieved her Certificate III in Dental Assisting while on the job at KN Orthodontics. Hayley enjoys yoga, running and catching up on the latest movies. Hayley enjoys walks with her rescue silky terrier dog named Conor who is now 15 years old.

Karen

Dental Assistant

Karen started as a new dental assistant in 2023 after spending 18 years in customer service. Karen decided she needed a new life challenge and the opportunity to become a dental assistant at KN Orthodontics was her calling. Karen has enjoyed her career change; she excels at patient care and has qualifications in administration and customer service. In her spare time, Karen enjoys travelling, reading non-fiction, learning history, spending time with her family and watching crime shows.

Nina

Dental Assistant

Nina is the newest member of our team and has been a great addition to KN Orthodontics Ferny Hills. Nina has many years of experience under her belt as a youth worker, child and family support worker and has worked in childcare. This experience gives Nina a warm and welcoming feeling to our patients when in our practice. Nina has acquired a certificate III in Children’s Services and a degree in Human Services. In her spare time, Nina enjoys running, beach visits with the family, dancing, and going to the movies. Nina also has a furry feline friend at home named Hazel.
